Cathy wearing red garters? While this look might not fit into Emily Brontë’s world, for Margot Robbie, it’s totally possible.
Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal virtually reinvented the modern press tour Barbieit’s no surprise that the duo has a lot in store for her Wuthering Heights promotion. While they’ve tapped Chanel, Thom Browne and Schiaparelli to create custom Bronte-inspired (or, more accurately, Bronte-adjacent) looks, they’ve just pulled off their biggest surprise yet with impressive archival pull.
For the film’s London press shoot, Robbie wore a bold look from John Galliano’s Spring 1992 collection for Dior. Like Penny Lane meets Empress Joséphine, Robbie wears a long cotton coat with pale pink shearling trimming the cuffs and collar. Underneath, she stayed true to her runway look, wearing a black miniskirt and garters, which were secured to red stockings with pink ribbons.
Robbie’s only major style transfer came from her choice of shoes. Rather than provide full coverage with the two-toned shoes Helena Christensen wore on the “Napoleon & Josephine” show, Mukamal opted for a pair of light silver pointed-toe pumps for Robbie.
Like the film’s unorthodox costumes, Margot Robbie took creative liberties with her approach to dressing.
