Kuala Lumpur – Datuk Seri Mohd Hassan said Umno Youth must continue to speak out for justice and play the role of “constructive opposition” within the government.
The Umno deputy president also dismissed criticism that the youth wing led by Datuk Dr Mohd Akmat Saleh was being crude in its approach.
“I said no.
“Your job is to sound the alarm and push the emergency button. Dr. Akmal, please continue to make your voice heard.
“If there is any government policy that seems to be causing damage to the Malays or the people, then the Pemuda faction will come forward.”
Tok Maat then called on Dr. Mohammed Akmal to stand while acknowledging his struggles.
This drew loud cheers from the packed crowd at the Independent House of Commons at the World Trade Center, where the officiating ceremony took place.
The Umno deputy president also called on the youth wing to regain the image of the people’s hero from the opposition.
“It proves that Permuda is the person who works the hardest for the Malays and is not someone who is only good at stirring up emotions,” Tokma said.
He further assured both wings that Umno will only enter the 16th general election battlefield as the Barisan Nasional.
“We will build on our own strengths to provide the people with a united and dominant team. We do not want to win based on the people’s goodwill but on the people’s trust in Umno, which has proven capabilities and experience in running our beloved country.”
