If you’re like me, you’re a emily in paris If you’re an apologist, then you know that the hapless Midwestern marketing executive (played by the elfin Lily Collins) often plays Audrey Hepburn. There she was, jumping down the stairs of the Palais Garnier in a black ball gown, like funny faceJo Stockton’s Game; Wandering the cobbled streets wearing a scarf, it’s like roman holidayPrincess Ann; wrapped in plush knit on the slopes, style CharlieRegina Lambert; and wore a giant hat and floor-length performance to honor My Fair LadyEliza Doolittle.
But, so what Breakfast at Tiffany’sHepburn’s most famous and still most fascinating classic of the most stylish films ever made? Well, now it looks like Collins yes Finally put on that black dress, giant diamond necklace, long gloves, and sunglasses—and it’s not for a Netflix smash hit, either. No, she’s about to play Hepburn herself in a new movie about the Givenchy romance.
Based on the best-selling book by Sam Watson Fifth Avenue, 5 a.m.: Audrey Hepburn, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “The Dawn of Modern Womanhood”A behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, which will be written by Apple TV+ creator Alena Smith Dickinson.
The book’s logline states that it “goes beyond the legend to explore the woman in the little black dress and the film that captured the nation’s imagination in 1961 – when the stuffy decorum of the Eisenhower era was replaced by the glamorous modernity of the Kennedys. The cast of characters is rich and colorful, including Truman Capote, Edie Featuring the likes of Silk Head, Givenchy, Moon River composer Henry Mancini and, of course, the iconic Audrey Hepburn herself, Watson immerses us in America in the late 1950s and early 1960s, before Woodstock and birth control, when a girl named Holly Golightly Golightly’s charming, not-so-chaste girls melted hearts, captured attention, and forever changed the way Americans thought about fashion, movies, sex, and culture.
Collins confirmed the news on her Instagram, writing: “After nearly 10 years and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey, I am finally able to share this news. Honored and ecstatic cannot express how I feel…”
The Golden Globe and Emmy nominee is producing the project with her husband Charlie McDowell, but other questions remain. For example, who will play young Hubert de Givenchy? Or the awesome Edith Head? Or grumpy Capote? (yes Feud: Capote vs. the SwansIs Tom Hollander still around? ) And what about the gorgeous costumes? Not just a little black dress, but a bow hat, casual denim, the perfect trench coat, a retina-searing orange coat, a pink cocktail dress and more? A fashion fantasy surely awaits you.
