Kim Kardashian’s “Clavi-cut” is the Ideal Chop for Fine Hair

Like most of the long-running online community, Kim Kardashian has clearly been digging into her archives for inspiration. Last night, the Skims founder stepped out on the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet, channeling her 2016 self with a messy shoulder-length bob, thick black eyeliner, matte bronze and a cool-toned nude lip. Kardashian wore a sparkling Gucci gown and a pair of colored contact lenses for a good dose of nostalgia.

Hairstylist David Lorente explains that Kardashian’s “collarbone cut,” a bob that starts at the collarbone, looks good on all face shapes. Invisible layers create the illusion of healthy fullness, while semi-blunt feather ends add a casual, effortless quality. Lorente said it was reminiscent of Kurt Cobain’s ’90s edits and was very adaptable. The volume you choose for a layer or where you like to separate it can significantly change the effect. For example, Kardashian opted for a sweeping, tousled style with a puffy front and deep side parting.
