Easter Sunday services in Windsor are always a solemn affair. Kate Middleton decided to ring in the occasion by buying a rare new piece as a seasonal treat.
The Princess of Wales joined her entire family – husband Prince William and their three children Charlotte, Louis and George – for Easter morning prayers at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
It was a warm return for Kate and her family after a two-year absence, having skipped the last two services while she focused on cancer treatment.
This year, she chose to wear a cream Self Portrait dress, which featured lace appliqués on the tailored blazer top and long midi skirt. (The last time we saw this dress was at her royal engagement to Princess Anne in 2022.) Kate paired it with Bahrain pearl drop earrings, her beloved toffee-colored Nano Montreal bag from DeMellier, and gold calfskin Ralph Lauren pumps.

While Kate is known for recycling her vast wardrobe, today’s teardrop-shaped cream hat decorated with leaf appliqués is new from milliner Juliette Botterill. The London-based brand is the go-to brand for royals (from Princess Beatrice to Zara Tindall) and is a favorite of Kate Middleton for its feminine shapes, bright colors and fun floral details. The royal has at least eight pieces in her collection, including a sculptural aquamarine hat she wore at Trooping the Color last year and a black headdress decorated with flowers and a veil that she unveiled on Remembrance Day last year. Last month, the princess wore another eye-catching wide-brimmed hat by Botterill when she met the first female Archbishop of Canterbury.
