JFK Jr.-Core Has Taken Over Menswear

It’s not just the high fashion world that’s following JFK Jr.’s style. On TikTok, there are several posts dedicated to finding JFK-inspired looks in the wild. “New Yorkers are really out here looking for their Caroline,” one TikTok user wrote, showing a man wearing a backwards hat. Other TikTok users copied his look more directly, wearing their best JFK Jr. looks for #outfitofthedays.

While I can confirm that the JFK effect is already taking place in New York (especially in neighborhoods like Dimes Square), Fashion Culture writer Emma Specter was also present at the moment in Los Angeles, although she’s not so sure the men were entirely successful. “To me, the sexy thing about JFK Jr. was his effortlessness — well, his mathematically perfect face,” she said. “But the good people of LA were trying so hard to give to the ‘boy who just didn’t care’ when I was walking around the Silver Lake Reservoir and their Lime scooter almost hit me. You’re not JFK! You’re just wearing a baseball cap and oxfords!”

Of course, there are dangers in trying to replicate this well-documented look: something about the original spirit and approach is always lost. That being said, there are worse fads to follow! If a finance bro wants to jazz up his Wall Street uniform with a cheeky little shoulder sweater or a playful little hat, we say let them. Bonus points if you’re also walking around with an adorable puppy named Friday.
