Jennifer Aniston Enlists Courteney Cox to (Briefly) Go Brunette

Jennifer Aniston’s unique, signature hairstyle has been driving women to hair salons for decades. “Rachel”—a layered, shoulder-length dark blonde with face-framing hair accessories—earns a place in pop culture’s hair hall of fame. But Anren reminds us that her signature hairstyle is far from natural.

In a video shared to her personal Instagram and hair care brand LolaVie, the actor answered an off-camera question about her skin tone: “Am I going to be brunette? I’m brunette.”

friends Then co-star and long-time friend Courteney Cox came into the frame: “Look, this is what her black hair looks like,” she said, spreading her own dark hair over Aniston’s head, framing her face.

“That’s black!” Aniston said.

“It’s not black,” Cox jokingly retorted.

“It was dark,” Aniston continued.

“It’s dark brown,” Cox countered.

“Oh, it’s like terrible boss “The character I played,” she said, referring to the 2011 film in which she wore a dark brown wig to play a sex-obsessed, unhinged dentist — a big departure from her previous, mostly girl-next-door roles. Well, the hair transformation makes sense — but she has to fight for it (as she said in a previous interview), and it’s “not an easy battle.”

Last year, the actress and hair care mogul spoke in an interview about how she “struggled to change her hair.” vanity fair looks back at some of her most famous roles in a video.

“Am I going to be brunette?” Aniston repeated after her brief hair experiment with Cox. “Yes! Well, that’s it, did you see that answer? Does that work?” She ran her hand over her head, jokingly calling her blonde hair “fake.”
