Iswarya Hospital opens specialised vertigo clinic in Chennai

The condition affects 60 million people, and most people over the age of 60 experience dizziness.

Iswaya Hospital has opened a dedicated vertigo diagnosis and treatment clinic in Chennai, where neurologists and otolaryngologists provide advanced care to patients suffering from vertigo, dizziness and functional balance disorders.

About 60 million people in India suffer from vertigo, and about 65% of people over 60 years old experience symptoms of dizziness or imbalance on a daily basis, said Dr. Deepa Avadhani, senior consultant neurologist at Iswaya Hospital in Chennai.

The clinic offers specialized vestibular testing and posturography to accurately identify balance disorders and provides tailored treatment based on the underlying cause, including evidence-based repositioning procedures and vestibular rehabilitation.

Dr Pradeep Balaji and Dr Agnetia Vinoth, senior consultant neurosurgeons, emphasized the importance of identifying the exact cause of vertigo.

They note that advanced AI diagnostic tests can accurately determine whether a disease originates in the inner ear or the brain, allowing for cause-specific treatment for effective recovery.

“Our Vertigo Clinic will close a critical gap in neurological and ENT care by providing precise diagnosis, advanced vestibular testing and evidence-based treatment. Our mission is to help patients regain balance, confidence and quality of life,” said Professor Dr. Rajasundaram, CEO of Iswayya Hospital.
