Inside Valentino Garavani’s Many Glamorous Homes, as Seen in Vogue

“Organized, precise, detailed, and full of energy fantasy. ” Couldn’t this sentence be used to describe almost all of Valentino Garavani’s collections? Indeed it can – but in fact, these words were originally used to introduce Garavani’s Roman rooftop apartment to readers of the April 1970 issue. Fashion. Inside, gorgeous reds are juxtaposed with cool, modern rooms, and tents abound. The man himself was dressed in his finest 1970s clothes.

Fast forward to the August 1974 issue and you’ll see Garavani’s Ross of Urb Villa near the Appian Way. It’s not unlike rooms in the city – a friend of the designer described the house’s rooms as “like a series of movie sets”. It’s truly a bohemian scene.
