When it comes to mastering the art of the travel wardrobe, it’s no surprise that our favorite fashion insiders also moonlight as packing experts. In My Packing Style, we asked some of the most well-traveled people we know to take a look at their travel bags and vacation wardrobes to see how they channel their style on the road. You’ve bookmarked this trip, you’ve taken screenshots of the outfits; now, see how it all comes together
Keep a travel capsule wardrobe stocked with coveted items; organize a neat itinerary; and keep a pre-planned outfit list for every dinner reservation and lunch date. Its opposite is equally aspirational (and deeply relatable) – the B-packing approach comes from not overthinking, and having enough confidence in your own personal style to know that it will work no matter what you put it together. Ramya Giangola, founder of Gogoluxe, fashion strategist and street style expert extraordinaire, falls squarely into the latter camp. On her travel habits: “I’m a total procrastinator,” she says.

Now, she’s on her way to Paris Fashion Week; her daughter will soon join her, and then the two will head to Milan for some post-fashion relaxation. Also on the road? Her tried-and-true matte black Away suitcase is stuffed with Prada knitwear, Celine scarves and fitted jackets from Istanbul brand Nackiyé. “Winter travel always requires extra checked luggage because of the need for coats, thick sweaters and big boots,” Giangola explains. “In other words: I am no Just a girl who carries it around. “
We caught up with the fashion entrepreneur before she hit the road, so read on to learn how she’s using color stories to her advantage, shopping for her favorite carry-on pieces of the moment, and how she handles the not-so-occasional over-packaging.
Do you have it pre-packaged or ready to use?
Even though I’ve had to travel all over the world to fashion weeks, fashion conferences, and conferences over the years, I’ve always put off packing until much later than I should have. But since I can’t just go with the flow, the last afternoon or evening before departure is usually very stressful.

Do you pack clothes?
I used to make outfits every time; I would write them down in my notes app because it forced me to be a little ahead of time and made me pack a lot less. But two weeks ago during Paris Fashion Week, we were hit by a heavy rainstorm in Los Angeles, and living in the mountains we lost power. I basically had to bring a flashlight. I didn’t know how it was going to end – I remember Phil Oh telling me that he thought that season was probably my best season ever. So this might be the moment I stop packing “looks” ahead of time.
