How did you and your husband meet?
We met at a dinner party in Paris. He sent me home. Although it lasted 10 minutes, I was impressed by his originality – he told me what he played on the piano; it must have taken him a long time to play such a difficult piece. Soon after, he invited her to lunch in one of Dior’s offices. He invited me to visit the Dior boutique. His assistant kept saying: Mr. Arnault has changed this, Mr. Arnault has changed that, which makes me think he is engaged in interior design. Later I understood it after watching it.
What is it like juggling concert life and family life?
During my pregnancy and when my kids were little, I still performed, although I played less frequently. I feel guilty about leaving my kids. But now that they are older, I play more. I love the opportunity to travel to countries that are open to classical music. I love discovering new audiences. China is building so many new concert halls! In 2025, I played with Herbie Hancock at the International Jazz Day celebrations in Abu Dhabi. I played with Daniel in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan is his mother’s birthplace. I’m going to play a show in Georgia with Daniel soon.
Have you ever released a solo album?
No, but life is still long. I am lucky that I can pursue this career throughout my life. I love the fact that I can do this without feeling guilty.
What other types of music do you like?
I’ve always been drawn to pop music. These include chansons such as Michel Fugain, Jacques Brel, Leo Ferré, and then the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Police and Sting. Today, I found rap interesting: Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z. I’ve played [Congolese rapper] Jim twice. I love the fusion of rap with other genres.
Have you discussed music with Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton menswear creative director?
Yes, Pharrell perceives colors based on sound, a condition known as synesthesia, so he recently created the set design and lighting for an opera by Pascal Dusapin at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. He was inspired by the constant dissonance in music. The results are mesmerizing. Honestly, it brought tears to our eyes. He radiated positivity and was always filled with gratitude. his lego movie little by little marvelous. The number of Grammy nominations he has received over the years is a testament to his immense artistic contributions.
Are you performing at the Fondation Louis Vuitton?
Daniel was about to do just that. I’d rather not perform there. I like to keep my roles separate, so at the foundation, I just support my husband.
your book, Au fil des note…, Published in 2009, it includes a photo of a huge bouquet of flowers that Karl Lagerfeld gave you at one of your concerts. What’s the story behind this?
The bouquet was too big to fit through the Turin dressing room door, so I had to leave it outside. Carl and I have a very close relationship. he didn’t speak [about his illness] It was his right, but he left without saying goodbye, which was difficult for everyone. We can’t overcome it. He is Hedi’s mentor. Carl has such a high level of excellence.
