Harry Styles’s ‘Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.’: A Totally Biased Song-by-Song Review

One Direction are famous for not dancing, but ten years after their breakup (“indefinite hiatus” for those who still held out hope!), the band’s most successful solo artist, the King of Compassion Harry Styles, was brought in as a dancer.

With his fourth album, Keep kissing. Disco, occasionally., Styles has succumbed to shaky jazz hands and riffs on electric slides – as seen in his Patrick Bateman pop-up performance at the BRIT Awards – and explored an electronic new sound that makes you want to slice yourself into glistening chicken chops and fly to Amsterdam for his Remembrance Day gig. (Is there anyone else on the second weekend?)

Keep kissing. Disco, occasionally. This is what we Harris, a group of extremely unwell (for free), have been waiting for. 2022 has been an eclectic year since the release of his last album Harry’s House, Drops and serotonin blasts, here are his five continents love on tour 2023 is over and we miss him like an unrequited lover. The break was long and painful for fans, but clearly one of recovery for Styles. He wandered around the Italian countryside with Alessandro Michele, bonded with his new niece, and found himself humbled by the crowds at the Vatican last June when the conclave elected Pope Leo XIV. The gray baseball cap Styles was wearing that day had a clue about the upcoming album written on it: “techno is my boyfriend.”

It tracks that a pop star known for catering to the moment is now luring us all to the dance floor. Styles has always been the antidote to toxic Trumpian masculinity, from his heartfelt mantra “treat people with kindness” to appearing on covers Fashion Wearing a gorgeous ruffled Gucci gown. Keep kissing. Disco, occasionally. Continuing the trend: In hard times, he wants us to dance and maybe cry at the same time.

This album lives up to its quirky title: disco In fact, although there are more songs kiss Variety – Styles is known for his singer-songwriter sweetness, infused with a little more techno sparkle. Here is a completely biased, song-by-song review Keep kissing. Disco, occasionally.

“aperture”

As the first single and opening track, “Aperture” is Kaido. From the anticipation of a throbbing opening beat, Styles signals his new sound (“Dancehall, Another Rhythm”) and a new sense of freedom.
