Freya Dalsjø’s fall collection was overall simple, running the gamut from monastic elegance to a more passionate and organic sensibility. The Danish designer, a firm believer in slow fashion, returned to the catwalk last season after a long absence, bringing a plethora of spring pieces into the fall. “I think for me the focus is on developing styles that are suitable for the year, for the seasons, that you can layer. So a lot of it is a base collection and then added to each season,” she said during a walkthrough. Redesigned and combined with new work, they won’t read like repetitions. In fact, we need more of this kind of thinking in fashion. We barely had time to record, let alone absorb, so much of what we saw.
Dalsjø continues to use double-faced wool, using it to create two-in-one outerwear. Feathers fell from the otherwise streamlined fragments. The idea of wrapping yourself in a piece of fabric and letting the edges fold over, popular last spring, was applied to an angelic dress whose texture was made from hand-woven silk threads.
