Former Thai politician Pita returns to rally voters as People’s Party eyes 150+ seats in final push

Bangkok – The People’s Party is expected to win more than 150 seats in the 2026 Thai general election, focusing its strategy on Bangkok, the central region, the north and areas with more swing voters. The party has stated that it will seek to form a coalition government, possibly with the Pheu Thai Party and the Pheu Thai Party, and is expected to jointly obtain 260-270 seats, thereby enhancing its bargaining power in post-election negotiations.

The strategy includes reassuring voters by staying away from sensitive topics such as Section 112 (the lèse-majesté law) and policies such as “pushing the cap” on constitutional reform, ensuring a broader appeal to different groups of voters, especially undecided swing voters.

Party insiders are optimistic about achieving a one-party government or a strong coalition government. The final weeks before the election will see further efforts to mobilize voters and clarify economic policy, which has been criticized in previous campaigns (2019-2023).

The key to the party’s strategy is to return to Peeta Linjaroenrath On January 25, he is expected to help drive Bangkok’s “Orange Wave”, having been instrumental in their past success. The party is also working to attract younger voters, including Generation Z voters, many of whom have expressed strong support for the PPP.

Recent internal polls confirm that Bangkok remains the party’s stronghold, with significant support also coming from the northern and central provinces. However, uncertainty remains in some swing-voting areas, prompting the party to step up campaigning in these constituencies.
