The 2026 Winter Olympics got off to an exciting start on Friday night with the official opening ceremony, attended by stars including Andrea Bocelli, Charlize Theron, Sabrina Impacciatore and Mariah Carey.
Dedicated to Kelly – who performed a stunning medley of the classic ballad “Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu)” and her own song “Nothing Is Impossible” from her recent album Everything is hereFor the crowd at Milan’s San Siro, the opportunity “really felt like a dream come true,” she told us Fashion Shortly after the performance. “This is one of the largest and most anticipated global events and it is a huge privilege to be part of a moment that brings the world together.”
Breaking down her song, Carey explained that “Volare” has long been her favorite song. “It was definitely a challenge to rearrange the music and learn to sing it in Italian, but it was important to pay homage to the host country in a meaningful way,” she said. “I also chose my song ‘Nothing is Impossible’ because its message is hopeful and uplifting, which felt like a perfect fit with the spirit of the Games and what it represents.”

Kylie’s look was equally well thought out considering the grand occasion. In order to pay tribute to the northern Italian environment of the Olympic Games, she wore a custom Roberto Cavalli dress designed by Fausto Puglisi that night, showing off her Italian charm. “It’s been a pleasure working with the Fausto and Roberto Cavalli team – they truly put their heart and soul into creating beautiful couture gowns and I feel the love,” said Carey.
Her white bustier satin gown, with a fitted silhouette and mermaid train, was embroidered with Swarovski embellishments and finished with an ostrich feather cape. “I wanted this look to encapsulate all the things I love in design and fashion – beautiful shapes, a dress that’s visually striking in such a large venue, and a sophistication that reflects Italian design,” Carey said. “Of course, it has to be glamorous.” High jewelry pieces from Levuma completed the look.
