Construction is expected to begin next year.
Planning and design for new hospice wards at Westmead and Nepean hospitals in Sydney's west has been completed, according to the New South Wales state government.
Westmead Hospital’s hospice ward will be located in an extension to the Clinical Emergency Services building. It will feature en-suite bedrooms, communal spaces, multi-faith rooms and access to outdoor areas.
Meanwhile, the Nepean Hospital ward will be located on the top floor of the new stage two redevelopment building. It will include en-suite bedrooms, a rooftop patio and shared family-friendly spaces.
Completion of the design phase allows the tender process to be launched to appoint a building contractor, with construction expected to begin next year.
