However, historically speaking, this may be the first time we’ve taken direct inspiration from a bar cart. Chartreuse, named after the famous French liqueur, is becoming the color of spring.
Chartreuse, located between yellow and green on the color wheel, is bright, electric, and somewhat acidic. It’s a visually striking hue—softer than lime, but more vibrant than lemon.
In spring, the color appeared on the runways – Balenciaga, Alaïa, Valentino and Tibi all incorporated it into their latest collections. Away from the runways, the hue has also appeared on the streets, appearing in accessories and statement pieces, from leather jackets to bubble skirts.
Chartreuse has a bright, almost neon look that can be intimidating to wear, but with some styling, it’s surprisingly versatile. It jazzes up neutrals like black, white, and warm browns, while also pairing well with other bright colors—we love it paired with orange, burgundy, purple, and cobalt blue.
