The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement on Sunday saying that His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaullah Ibni Al Mahum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddin Saadul Khairy Wadien, has safely undergone right total knee replacement surgery at the Crystal Park Medical Center (JPMC).

With the consent of His Majesty, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a special announcement by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence, Major General Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yusof Yussof), Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji (Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji) Posted by Osman and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohammad Isham Bin Haji Jaafar.
Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi said in the announcement that His Majesty had safely undergone right total knee replacement surgery with the blessings and consent of Allah Almighty Allah.
Datuk Seri Dr Setia Awang Haji Mohamed Isham also said that His Majesty is in stable condition and in good health following the medical procedures. Currently, His Majesty the King is recovering and under the supervision of the medical team. Next will be a recovery phase, including physical therapy sessions.

Major General Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi further said that during the recovery period, His Majesty will continue to perform official duties and His Majesty’s attendance at national and official ceremonies will depend on his condition from time to time.
The minister also said that “the support of the public, especially citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam and abroad, in religious activities such as Sunat Hajat pray, recite Yassin Chapter and the special prayers held across the country are very meaningful, collectively praying to the Almighty Allah to grant our beloved monarch immediate recovery, perfect health and lasting well-being.”
At the end of the special announcement, Pesin Udana Khatib Datuk Paduka Seri Setiya Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin recited a special prayer for His Majesty’s immediate recovery and eternal well-being.
