Andrej Gronau Berlin Fall 2026 Collection

As someone who loves to stay at home, lives for it, and dreams of going home (and never leaving), Andrej Gronau’s Fall 2026 collection struck a chord with me, not least because it was a great reminder that home is where the heart truly is. Gronau, a London-educated, London-based, Berlin-showing designer who has had his own label since 2022, launched a collection that celebrated domestic spaces, specifically the graphic, colorful, future-oriented optimism of the mid-century period, and specifically the residence of his beloved grandmother. The result is a body of work that has great charm and serves as a reminder of the wonderful work he, and many other Berlin-based designers do, of skillfully combining craftsmanship and concept.

“The idea is basically to bring home interiors into our closets,” Gronau said after his show, as a crowd of well-wishers (and home enthusiasts here) gathered to congratulate him. “I’ve been thinking about the current rise in the cost of living and how many people are gathering at home, so this idea of comfort came up and what that means for us right now.” With that explanation, it all suddenly became clear: Japanese brocade shorts vs. Brocade wallpaper echoed; a high-waisted, bell-shaped technical wool skirt looked like a couture wrap dress made from a blanket pulled from the bed; a sloping-shoulder jacket belted and buttoned at the back like an apron; a demure, ladylike coat that looked like it was 1962 The same thing you put on before you let the cat out before bed around 1999. All this, regardless of gender, while wearing shoes as soft as slippers.

One thing Gronau really specializes in is knitwear. Bow intarsia cardigans—intarsia on cardigans and sweaters that are small and precise, with a fit that’s not too trendy or extreme—have become one of his trademarks. This time, they’ve included shrinking puffy sweater girls (actually sweater boys) pullovers in beige or turquoise. All of which is a reminder that he’s also becoming a very good colorist, mixing pinks, taupes, lilacs and aquamarines. They provide joy, they provide warmth, and if that doesn’t sound like home, I don’t know what does.
