Matthieu Blazy launched his first couture collection for Chanel in Paris today—and it was well worth the wait.
Designers transformed the massive Grand Palais into a mysterious fairy tale world filled with giant, surreal mushrooms and sugar-pink willow trees. The clothes were equally fantastic: sheer skirts, ruffled tweed dresses and ruffled chiffon dresses all strolled down the catwalk. (If this show was a dream, we wouldn’t want to wake up from it.)
However, it wouldn’t be a Chanel show without a front row packed with the hottest stars of the moment. Friends of the French fashion house—A$AP Rocky, Nicole Kidman, Margaret Qualley, Penelope Cruz and Dua Lipa—appeared in their finest couture looks, becoming authentic Parisians for the day.
While some captured the city’s cooler, edgier side — think: A$AP Rocky and his sleek leather trench coats — others leaned toward a more sophisticated, uptown feel, like Gracie Abrams in an electric yellow tweed skirt suit. The VIP seating was as much a fashion spectacle as the runway itself.
