ALC is more about wardrobe than storytelling, and autumn may be the key to Andrea Lieberman’s thesis. “For me, it’s a subtle shift in adding things to wardrobes that we feel are missing,” the designer said of fall. “Nothing significant happened.”
As her own best customer, Lieberman filled the silk-shirt-shaped hole in her closet with a variety of shirts, from traditional dark brown button-downs to flowy turtlenecks in navy and beige. Although Lieberman isn’t much of a fan of dresses, she also designed a dark eggplant silk shirtdress with a tie-down waist. The color palette is mostly traditional fall colors, with the occasional surprise like a mint slip dress or a raspberry knit skirt suit. “For us, color has always been a beautiful expression of the brand,” she says. “It’s a very rich and very sophisticated neutral, but always with an unexpected hint of mint or red.”
While Lieberman says this isn’t a season of change, fall 2026 is an opportunity to put fabrics at the forefront, leveraging smart textiles to elevate loungewear. For example, pull-on leather joggers in a “carrot” silhouette or a thick navy viscose quarter-zip—her “grown sweatshirt”—hold their shape for a more structured, tailored look. “I wanted it to be a fabric that made me look and feel more elevated and ready,” she says.
Although Lieberman has called Southern California home for the past few decades, she is a native New Yorker who has always maintained her love of fall clothing. This season blends serious New York attitude with casual SoCal style. From coast to coast, there’s something for everyone.
