We’re Entering a New Era of Sexy Men’s Red Carpet Dressing

Fashionista Alexander Skarsgård attended the London premiere of Fashionista earlier this week. nowI just couldn’t stop staring at his chest. No, I’m not a pervert: The Swedish actor donned a custom Saint Laurent look, which deliberately drew the eye to his sternum thanks to his low-cut silk top. The matching black suit is classic enough, but the charming breasts exposed make the whole look shamelessly sexy. You might even say this is one. . . moment.

For the past year or so, Skarsgård has been pioneering the art of slightly sexy menswear on the red carpet. Whether he’s baring his (chiselled) arms in a white sleeveless shirt or letting his dog out in Valentino flip-flops, the actor isn’t afraid to show some skin — and he’s not the only one, either. A new group of Hollywood heartthrobs are pioneering a new era of sensuality, a marriage of elegance and eccentricity.

like a rising star fierce competitionHudson Williams was spotted wearing a silky white tank top paired with a playful little scarf during New York Fashion Week. The pieces themselves were dainty and refined, but paired with chiseled muscles, they immediately made you feel – for lack of a better word – hot. The same goes for Colman Domingo, who was spotted attending a Grammys after-party last month wearing a black suit and silk shirt. A timeless outfit, only with him unbuttoning his shirt to his navel to reveal his tiny dangling necklace. I need a cold compress, stat.

Harry Styles and Pedro Pascal are two other hunks who bare their chests. When Styles attended the Grammy Awards as host last month, he wore a classic Dior Bar jacket without a shirt underneath, letting his chest tattoos take center stage. But it’s not just the upper body that’s enjoying the moment. At the Coach show during Fashion Week last week, Tyriq Withers wore a tight white T-shirt, revealing a small section of her abdomen. Who knew belly button exposure could be so hot?

What exactly do these men gain from exposing their skin? Well, this is refreshing: There was a time in Hollywood when heartthrobs relied on classic tailoring and too-safe tuxedos to shine, but we’re clearly at a point where men can now be more playful and have fun with their style. It’s like the art of red carpet dressing has become more meta: Our imaginary boyfriend knows what we want to see and is more than happy to oblige. However, their sexy way of dressing doesn’t come across as vulgar or tacky either. The look still feels regal, striking the right balance between formal and casual.

The good news, folks, is that it’s still winter. . . Just imagine all the steamy red carpet menswear looks we’ll see this summer. There will even be less layer. I personally could do with another Macho Summit in Cannes.
