Awards season is in full swing, and last night the nominees for the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards hit the blue carpet in Los Angeles. Following the Grammys and BAFTA Awards, the Actors Awards (aka the Screen Actors Guild Awards) and the Oscars (which is now exactly a month away), the Independent Spirit Awards tend to have more free spirited Air to it. Its screenings in independent cinemas were as impressive as the night’s celebrity fashion.
After spending 40 years by the sea (and developing a laid-back, semi-rave image from drinking all day in the sand and surf), the Independent Spirit Awards hollywood patron saint. However, the step and repeat style remains fresh and interesting. Take Keke Palmer, for example, who wore a buttery yellow and cream vintage Dior bustier dress with a scarf tied at the waist, while Kate Hudson combined mid-10s and bohemian trends in Chloé’s leather ruffles and bloomers. Bold colors continue to be a trend in Hollywood, with Rebecca Hall wearing an electric violet Jil Sander dress, Lola Petticrew in scarlet tulle by Hector Maclean and Poorna Jagannathan in a pale yellow Prabal Gurung dress. Tessa Thompson and Jenny Slate also went nude, wearing sheer black Collina Strada and Altuzarra respectively, while award-winning Rose Byrne wore a midriff-baring Loewe gown with colorful ruffles at the shoulders and hips.
Menswear also stayed fresh: David Jonsson opted for a black and red sailor-style jacket from Loewe, while Archie Madekwe reinvigorated the skinny scarf trend with a polka-dot tie from Ferragamo.
Sponsor saturday night live Alumnus Ego Nwodim and chairman emeritus filmmaker Lulu Wang won three awards for “Train Dreams,” while Rose Byrne won best actress for “Train Dreams.” If I had legs I would kick youNaomi Ackie won Best Supporting Actor sorry baby. puberty Continuing its dominance at the awards show: Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper both walked away with medals, and the show won Best New Scripted Series.
