On the eve of New York Fashion Week, Danielle Frankel’s satin-and-pearl-embellished Birkenstocks were the centerpiece of the day—almost literally, as the off-the-charts shoes were displayed on trays carried by waiters. To celebrate their unexpected collaboration, the designer and shoe brand hosted a stylish dinner at The 86; a place where wearing flat, comfortable shoes is highly encouraged.
This recently opened popular restaurant, a branch of The Corner Store in Soho, was the perfect setting for attendees to enjoy a multi-course dinner including mustard pickles, steak and tiramisu. The crowd, which included stylists, editors, artists and models, discussed everything from fashion week plans to wedding-related show-and-tell and their lifelong loyalty to Birks.
“I want people to buy whatever shoes they want. I love that they don’t have to be bridal-only shoes,” says Danielle Frankel Hirsch Fashion, Referring to the highly anticipated Arizonas, Madrids and Bostons six-piece collection, which will be available on February 12th. “I’m not a bride.
