After a few seasons at the helm of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Michelle Rhee is having fun with her collection. For Pre-Fall, she remained focused on making a few twists on New Yorkers’ daily essentials, but this season she’s taking more risks. Trendier approaches to leather were explored, including “eel-inspired” faux leather applied to dresses and sleek funnel-neck jackets. For those still shopping for the classic model in 3.1, a softer brown colorway will be available in the fall.
Denim is one of the brand’s best-selling categories. This season the team explored some new styles, not just jeans. Highlights include a mid-length black denim pleated skirt with western-inspired studs at the waist. When paired with the matching cropped bomber jacket, the proportions are flattering for everyone, regardless of height.
