Frieze New York has confirmed more than 65 galleries will participate in the upcoming 2026 edition, which will be the sixth exhibition held at the Shed at Hudson Yards.
This year’s Frieze New York art fair was originally scheduled to be held from May 13 to 17. In order to avoid conflict with the professional days and the opening of the 2026 Venice Biennale, it will be held closer to mid-May than usual.
The exhibitor list includes several of the world’s leading galleries, including Gagosian Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, White Cube, Thaddaeus Ropac, Vicotria Miro, Kukje, Kurimanzutto, Ortuzar and Instituto de Visión. Three galleries have graduated from the show’s spotlight section as emerging galleries: G Gallery, Miter Galeria and Yeo Workshop.
Only two galleries are participating in Frieze New York for the first time: Lawrie Shabibi Gallery in Dubai and Johyun Gallery in Seoul and Busan, South Korea. Both galleries participated in other Frieze shows in London and Seoul, as well as the Armory Show in New York. Last week, Shabibi participated in the inaugural Art Basel Qatar, and later this month Johyun will participate in Frieze Los Angeles for the third time.
“The fair is a microcosm of the most compelling artistic practice in today’s international cities, one that embodies rigor, sophistication and ambition,” Christine Messineo, Frieze Americas director, said in a statement. “Our close relationships with New York institutions, particularly in time-based media and performance, extend our reach beyond the fair’s architecture, from Chelsea to the wider city.”
Independent curator Lumi Tan will organize Focus for the third time, showcasing 11 galleries that have been in business for 12 years or less. Seven galleries will be participating for the first time, including Europa, Isla Flotante, Sargent’s Daughters, Soft Opening and Campeche. Campeche co-founder Fátima González recently joined the fair’s selection committee, as was Omayra Alvarado, executive director and co-founder of Instituto de Vision.
Tan said in a statement: “I am deeply concerned about [Focus] Covering a broad range of media and cultural history, this section demonstrates through solo exhibitions how artists both historic and emerging have been and continue to be engaged in world-building—imagining new structures and forms that engage with overwhelming themes such as ecological destruction and urban wonder, as well as the intimate relationship between mother and child. ”
