ICT-1 frames crimes against humanity charges against Bangladeshi ex-PM adviser, ex-law minister

by The Tamesis

January 13, 2026

Dhaka – The International Crime Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) today indicted former Prime Minister’s Advisor Salman F. Rahman and former Law Minister Anisul Huq in crimes against humanity cases related to the July 2024 uprising.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder filed the charges after rejecting the defence’s plea for release.

Court member Shofiul Alam Mahmoud read out the five charges and asked the defendant whether he pleaded guilty.

Standing in the dock, Salman F. Rahman and Anisul Huq both pleaded not guilty and sought justice from the court.

In filing the charges, the court said that after reviewing the formal charges, it found that there were sufficient grounds to prosecute the defendants.

The court set February 10 as the date for opening statements and transcripts of testimony by prosecution witnesses.
