Fifth Avenue is home to many of New York’s iconic landmarks, but the spotlight on Saturday night belonged solely to the Gucci Tower. The temporary venue, located on Madison Avenue just behind St. Patrick’s Cathedral, served as the backdrop for the Resort 2027 after-show party.
An alluring invitation promises an elegant house party at the home of Barbara Gucci; aka the fictional character played by Demi Moore in Demna and Spike Jonze’s short film tiger. Guests arrived at Lotte New York Palace, a 19th-century complex a stone’s throw from Times Square where Demna staged his first cruise show for the brand.
As black SUVs lined the streets, Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, Alton Mason, Laura Harrier, Playboi Carti, Alex Consani, Stormzy, Cindy Crawford and Tom Brady were among the crowd. Attendees sped past paparazzi and security, across the grand stone courtyard and into the three-story afterparty.
The first floor is filled with mirrored walls and cascading white calla lilies. Magnums of Pol Roger Champagne, Cranberry Cosmopolitan and Ginger Tequila are served in the main living room. The staff, who looked suspiciously like models, dished out trays of New York-style Gucci-branded snack boxes filled with an assortment of sliders, pastrami cubes and mini pizzas. A private room features a live jazz quintet performing swing classics including Cole Porter’s I’ve got you under my skinanother room blasts a playlist of slow jams and Sade music through large speakers near a 16-seat dining table.
Sitting among the crowd is QMobolaji Dawodu said: “It felt sexy tonight. The show was decadent and there was a lot of traditional Gucci vibe here.” Laura Harrier also lamented: “It’s exciting and a little surreal to watch such a big show in the middle of Times Square and then come to a mansion here.”
Models Dree Hemingway and Mariacarla Boscono were immersed in the magic of the night as they gathered in a smoke-filled, dimly lit room on the second floor of their mansion for a tarot reading. Next door to Mysticism is a gym – some guests are there actually Exercise — and a small office den where Paris Hilton posed for photos at a mahogany desk. When asked about her appearance at Demna’s first-ever cruise show, Hilton responded: “It was great. As iconic as the party was, I knew I would be tired later.”
New Gucci model Jayden Agya also had similar feelings. He said: “It was so fun to walk tonight because it’s my first time as a model. It’s incredible to be with so many of my idols. It feels unreal.”
Delving deeper into the party rabbit hole and down a winding staircase, attendees found themselves in a basement that had been transformed into a club drenched in the brand’s signature red, thanks to velvet walls and plush carpeting. To the sound of techno and house music played by BrokinPaper, guests sipped refreshing cocktails and drank bottles of ice-cold Saratoga water at a small but packed bar in the far corner.
