In New York, sometimes the hottest thing is having your name on a celebrity list latest Late night party. Case in point: those who flocked to Richie Akiva’s 12th annual Met Gala after-party “The After,” which lasted until around 7 a.m.
The event hosted by Kate Moss and Teyana Taylor at infamous Lower East Side club The Box began around 1:30 a.m., with guests beginning to gather at the nondescript entrance while others waited for pre-approved VIPs to arrive and let them in. Those who stayed up late at the raucous party included Moss’s daughters Lila, Shabsi, Edward Enninful, Evan Ross, Fay Kadera and Lisa from Blackpink.
Akiva regulars were treated to the music of Kaytranada, who took the room by storm with tracks by the likes of Janet Jackson and Slayyyter. The entire lineup was something to behold, which also included performances from Busta Rhymes and DJ Cruz, before Diplo finally took to the stage in diamond-encrusted linen to hand over Coronas and Don Julio 1942 to his inner circle on stage.
What does it feel like indoors? Provocative yet composed – people offer care in brands such as Hervé Léger and Christian Siriano. Meanwhile, on the balcony, dancers in sequined pasties and ostrich-feather headdresses challenged the crowd below. As dawn approaches, the only thought on everyone’s mind seems to be to score a thin cigarette in the sea of silver confetti that obscures their vision. With over a dozen after parties taking place, this was the absolute last stop of the night for many. Although, who knows.
