Come One, Come All! Inside Tanner Fletcher’s Wedding Fair at New York Bridal Fashion Week

While the New York Bridal Fashion Week showcase showcases garments to buyers, media and members of the wedding industry, recently hired Tanner Fletcher designers Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kassel decided to create a special event for those who are actually getting married. On Friday, April 10th—the final day of a very busy wedding week—the creative pair brought some of their Etsy wedding vendors (and their newly launched wedding and event fashions) to the rooftop of Nine Orchards on the Lower East Side for a wedding expo open to the public.

“Tanner and I recently got engaged and were really stuck in wedding planning,” says Fletcher Cassel Fashion. The pair had previously partnered with Etsy for their New York Fashion Week show in September, so they began looking for vendors on their favorite platform for future celebrations. It was this process that inspired the show. “This was the perfect opportunity to bring together some of our favorite things while looking at potential items for our own wedding,” Cassell said. “We really wanted the opportunity to meet people in our customer community that we’ve never met before, meet some of our Etsy customers, and get to know some of the sellers that we’ll be working with at weddings and events.” He added, “I think this is really community-driven.”

The designer duo presented their wedding and event collection at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Park Avenue earlier this week, in a fairy-tale show filled with florals, ruffles, quirky suits and cake-inspired details. The speech also told a love story, culminating in a stunning pas de deux between the prince and his groom-to-be, both dressed in pastel brocade jackets. Works from the series are displayed throughout the fair space. “We’re trying to make the wedding expo an extension of the collection itself,” Cassell shared. “So it’s very British country, with French antiques – almost like a secret garden or backyard wedding.”
