exist The queen wears pradaProtagonist Andy Sachs refers to Runway’s slender, fashion-obsessed employees as “clucks,” evoking the sound of their impossibly high heels skittering across the office floor.

Well, while our May 2026 cover video does have some whispers at the beginning, these two are no Elias Clark sycophants. Playing Meryl Streep (playing Distributed Water PlanMiranda Priestley) and FashionAnna Wintour meets in a sleek white elevator, and the two women – glamorous executives, imagined and real – can’t help but look at each other. In the 2003 novel, it’s hinted that they were rivals: After Miranda fired Andy in Paris, her other assistant Emily encouraged Andy to “give her resume to Anna Wintour – they never really liked each other”. But more than two decades after the book and its landmark film adaptation, the two struggle to locate each other.

“Don’t I know you?” asked the priest.

“You do look…familiar,” Wintour replied curiously.

Did they meet at the Grand Palais? Maybe an Oscar? Met Gala? (This won “Absolutely Not” from Priestly.) Well, no matter where they met and no matter how they knew each other, at least they liked each other’s shoes.
