I remember going to the premiere of “New York” The queen wears prada and my mom. I was wearing my ball gown—a 1920s sage green beaded dress from a Paris flea market—and we were seated behind Anna (who was wearing Prada) and her daughter Bee. Bee and I were both in college and discussed our summer plans.
Many years later, when the team Fashion When we learned about the upcoming sequel, we all felt strongly that Disney shouldn’t be allowed to have all the fun. The Devil Wears Prada 2 Met Gala conveniently opens in theaters the weekend before the Met Gala, so if we wanted a cover related to the movie, it needed to be in May. But who to ask? It should be Meryl, right? Or what if we ask two “Mirandas” – Anna? and Meryl?

In early October, I shared the backseat of Anna’s city tram in Paris and headed along Rue Capucines to preview Balenciaga. Discussing the spring cover, now that we’re in May, I cautiously ask, “Would you consider being on the cover with Meryl?” She gives me an amused smile, but doesn’t look at me. “That’s very flattering, Chloe, but it’s not my style,” she said. Excellently, I think, I tried. After a few months, Meryl finally convinced her, and I’m so grateful. What a great way to commemorate a moment in our culture!

Meryl reveals that she would never actually want Anna’s job (“I’d be afraid of shoes”). Anna also can’t imagine doing what Meryl did (“There’s no way”).
