If you haven’t heard yet, the trend for spring is bobs, not flowers. But if you’re not as adventurous as Halle Berry (her cheekbone-length French bob was super chic) or Selena Gomez (her messy hair was a hit in the ’90s), then the “lob” is the way to go.

The long bob (or “lob” for short), which occurs anywhere between the chin and collarbone, is the preferred mid-length haircut. “It’s perfect for those who want a change but don’t want to cut their hair too short,” hairstylist and founder of Salon Cheska María Baras previously told Us Fashion. The cut can be more blunt and angular (think early Victoria Beckham), or it can be more flowy and dynamic, like Kim Kardashian’s “collarbone cut,” a special “lob” cut that falls right on the collarbone.

“It’s very versatile because it suits so many different face shapes and can be easily adjusted when styling,” says Barras, who adds that it looks great with different hair parts and bangs, and can still be styled into an updo because of its length.
