7 Shows to See During Mexico City Art Week 2026

Los Angeles-based artist Rafa Esparza currently has two exhibitions in Mexico City. At Lago Argo, located within the Chapultepec forest, he has a solo exhibition showcasing the breadth of his practice, which includes sculpture, painting, video, sound and installation. At the Anahuacali Museum, Esparza is part of a two-person show with his long-time collaborator, the sculptor Beatriz Cortez; the two recently collaborated on a critically acclaimed show at the American Society in New York. Designed by Mexican muralist Diego Rivera as a temple to collections of pre-Columbian objects, the museum will exhibit “La rerelión de los objetos” (The Rebellion of Objects), which, according to the description, aims to consider “objects as carriers of memory, energy and meaning, capable of activating new relationships with space and travelers”. The exhibition is curated by Karla Niño de Rivera, the museum’s director of exhibitions and collections and chief curator.

‘junxts’ will be on display at Lago Algo, Chapultepec II Sección Bosque de Chapultepec, Mexico City from February 5 to May 31.
