They say it’s a mistake to choose your favorite child; but now that it’s the end of the year and staying comfortable at home is the current priority, we’re in the mood for reflection. 2025 brings a lot of interior design fads—some good, some bad, some pewter—though aside from one all-time favorite color, it turns out our editors’ most memorable home purchases had little to do with trends. Our annual favorites list is a mix of practical investments and little luxuries; either a handy desk lamp to light up your daily routine or a frog-adorned paperweight to keep work tidy.

This is the year of bedding updates and nursery mood boards; office updates and dinner prep. Prominent brands and designers such as Parachute and Sophie Lou Jacobsen have registered as Fashion favorite. As for the aforementioned color trends? It looks like the chocolate brown craze is still going strong—even indoors.

“I’m excited about trying to make my new office feel cozier. My bulletin board is filled with the kids’ art, but I need to balance that out so as not to get Miss Frizzle too. I got a beautiful Giacometti-esque bookshelf from Restoration Hardware, four rust-colored Windsor chairs from Serena & Lily, and their sisal rug, a beautiful pot lamp from Irving & Daughters with a Robert Kim A lamp from Kime, plus the most gorgeous Bonacina table and chairs from Cabana, and now we’re cooking!”

“After receiving a lovely avocado green Anglepoise mini table lamp as a gift earlier this year, I decided it was finally time to get my home desk in better shape. My other additions include this marble pencil pot from Bridie Hall, a delightful John Derian I picked up from Choose Keeping in London Frog cutout paperweights, and (in a shameless plug in my own side project, the independent interior design magazine Landscape) the brass incense burner Perfumer H we made for issue 4 – and of course the bespoke incense, made by one of Japan’s few remaining traditional makers.
I also improved my bathing routine this year. First, thanks to these buttery-soft Autumn Sonata towels, and then my new obsession, Sharmadean Read’s new brand of 39BC’s oil-based body cleanser, which is best squeezed into the tub and used to leave your skin silky soft after stepping out. (My favorite scent so far is the decadent Denali, infused with frankincense and sandalwood.)”

Are they dead? Yes, very dead but the clay pots I bought to house them inspired me to keep trying to bring them back to life; or at least, find their successors as soon as possible.”

“I’ve bought a lot since moving into my first one-bedroom apartment this summer. Some of my favorite purchases include the restocked Sijo Eucalyptus sheets, which have a cool, almost silky quality, are a dream to sleep on. A plush blanket is a must for snuggling up on the couch. I’m in the early stages of decorating and planning to take my time before committing to big-ticket items (art, coffee tables, large mirrors), so I’m buying very little in the meantime. A sculptural wine shaker from Anissa Kermiche and a ceramic olive oil container from West Elm The best part is that I finally got a Dyson vacuum.
